Well, we made it through another Halloween!! I love Halloween because everyone gets to dress up and wear whatever they desire to be just for one night and it doesn't matter how much makeup or glitter you put on, it won't matter because everyone does it!
For Halloween this year, Madelyn was a ghostly pirate...I think that's what the package said but it looked more like a hooker pirate! Obviously, since she is 9 years old, I wasn't about to let me daughter dress like a hooker. So we kinda changed her outfit into a pirate girl that was more appropriate for her age! She was beautiful!!! For Marshall, I was having a hard time deciding on what he should be and I am sure if anyone asked him what he wanted to be, he would probably say, "A choo-choo, like Thomas!" But I didn't see him as being a train this year. So I went to Children's Orchard and found the PERFECT costume for him....Captain Hook! It was so adorable and of course we didn't get the hook or the sword for him...only for safety of my other children! When I put it on him...OMGosh I fell in love with him all over again! Now Garrett, since he was 1 year old this year got the privelege of wearing....DUMBO!!! I have had that Dumbo costume since Madelyn wore it when she was 1 year old and then Marshall wore it last year, so of course it was Garrett's turn! Let's just say, he was not going to have anything to do with that costume until the last 10 minutes of Halloween....then he was happy and actually left the ears on so I could take his picture!! Simply Adorable...all 3 had a great time!
The kids got to go to several houses in our neighborhood and had so much fun. I think Garrett was just glad to be riding in the wagon all bundled up with a bucket of candy! After we went to several houses, Madelyn was ready to go back so she could hand out candy! When we got back to the house the kids sorted through their candy and of course had to try a few pieces, and if we didn't open Garrett's soon enough he just tried to at it with the wrapper on! By the end of the night the kids were exhausted but had so much fun!

Pickin' Pumpkins'...Tiny One's
Well today we ventured out to Rutledge Wilson Farm for our fall tradition of picking pumpkins!!! We didn't make it out to a pumpkin patch last year but have every other year and I really missed the tradition last year. There is nothing I love more than fall, hayrides, pumpkin patches and watching the kids play.
I guess I began loving this when I was kid. We would always go to my papa's sister's farm and the whole family would get together and go on a hayride to the pumpkin patch. Then after we would get back, all of the kids would go in the barn and build these huge forts out of hay bales and we would play for hours!!! It was always so much fun, but then as years went on, we got older and for the past 7 or 8 years we just haven't been able to do that. So when Madelyn was about 2 years old, we started taking her out to the pumpkin patch, so we could start our own new tradition. Of course after we pick out the pumpkin, we take it home and then about a week later we carve them or paint them. It's always such a good time!
Anyways, back to today! So we headed out to the park with Clarissa, Cody and Skyler today. We got there at a good time because it wasn't too busy....yet. First we went to go see the bunnies and the kids got to pet one bunny, they other two were hopping all over and really didn't want to have much to do with us! Garrett, of course would pet the bunny and then hiss at it....he has to hiss at every animal, because he thinks every animal hisses like a cat! Funny kid! After the bunnies, we walked over to the chicken coop....of course my kids think that they can touch the chickens and pick them up. I think they think this because when they are at my sister's they get to pick up her chickens and touch them....so why can't they do the same for someone else's chickens? Hard concept I suppose!!! After the chickens we went over and the kids played on the hay bales for a bit. They would climb up, and then jump from one to another. The whole time I was thinking, "OMG, one of them is going to fall off and break their arm!" That is just the mother in me I guess, because I am sure when I use to play on hay bales I never thought to myself, I might break my arm!!!
After the hay bales, we walked through the barn....the empty barn, all the animals were outside today, and then headed over to the pumpkin patch! The kids walked with Justin and tried to find those perfect pumpkins. Marshall was on a search for a tiny pumpkin....and let me tell you, it is hard to find tiny pumpkins in a pumpkin patch full of giant pumpkins! Madelyn called over to us and said she had found hers. We looked over and she was holding the biggest pumpkin that was probably out there....I think it weighed in at 25 lbs. Her's was definately not a tiny pumpkin! As Marshall was on the search for his tiny pumpkin with his dad, me and Garrett went on a search for his. Of course all the pumpkin's were balls for Garrett and he could not for the life of him figure out why he couldn't pick any of them up!!! We eventually found a good size one for Garrett....but it was NOT a tiny one! After we had found two pumpkins, I went on a search with Marshall to find the tiny pumpkin!!! We eventually found a tiny pumpkin!!! Although, it is not as tiny as he would have liked, he could still carry it and he said it was a good one!
Overall, we had a great day at the pumpkin patch! You will have to stay tuned to see how our carved and painted, giant and tiny pumpkins turn out!

Sleepover Madness
Well, I decided to take on the task of 6 kids...yes I know I am crazy but sometime's in life we just need to live a little on the edge! My plan was to take the kids to Lebanon, to watch my two favorite nephews play some football! I always love watching my kids play sports or my sister's kids, but sometimes it's hard for me to watch because I get upset if one of our kids get hurt or if they lose. But I guess that's how kids learn to be fair and learn the concept of the game! So after the football game, I had planned on switching cars with my sister and then I was going to drive her car with all 6 kids to my house for a sleepover! My grocery getter of course would not fit all 6 kids in it, SO, I had to drive the Wehner Wagon!!! I definately enjoyed having much more room in my car...it may be time to upgrade to a bigger vehicle! So after I got all 6 kids loaded up in the car, we were off...and then came on Star Wars (on the DVD player). After about 15 minutes, we had giggling in the very back from the girls, Garrett screaming because somehow Marshall was managing to put his feet on Garrett, Marshall screaming at me because he needed a drink, Jonathan analyzing the movie and Brandon sitting quietly. After 5 more minutes of this I decided, we had to stop in Marshfield for Sonic Slushies!!! After I got our 6 slushies passed out, we headed back on the road! The kids did great! I couldn't have asked for a better ride home with 6 kids!
Once we got home, all the kids hung out in the living room and just played, we had a little group playing lego's, one playing on their DS, and a group playing in the play kitchen. After awhile the kids ventured to the back yard and made up some interesting games, until it was time to eat! We had homemade pizza, macaroni and for dessert we had cupcakes and ice cream! It was a lot of fun! After dinner we, hung out and the kids played for awhile, everyone was getting along SO good! We made a place on the floor for 3 kids to sleep and then got blankets for two kids to sleep on the couches. At about 8:30, we put Garrett in bed, and turned on the movie "The Pacifier". Within 10 minutes, Marshall and Michaela were passed out sleeping on the floor, it had been a LONG day for those two! At about 9:00, I checked on them and Brandon was snoring right along side Marshall!! At 10:00, the movie was over and I turned it off and Madelyn and Jonathan fell asleep very quickly on the couches. I didn't hear any of them move the whole night and they didn't get up until 7:30 the next morning! They all got up and played and then I met my sister to return her kids to her and her car!
I had so much fun watching them! It's not often that I get to spend time with all 6 kids, and some people might think I am crazy for attempting such a task but they are all such good kids. Where did my baby go????
I have realized within the past 2 weeks that Garrett is no longer my snuggly, sweet, innocent little baby anymore. He is a beautiful, bright, blonde headed, blue eyed, smile melting little toddler, that is most of the time still a momma's boy. He will always be my baby but I can't believe how fast he has grown up!
Just within the past month he is no longer crawling, everywhere he goes he is walking, and sometimes he can get up to a full speed and is almost running. Which for me is a blessing! This may sound odd but I had this fear that when we began finding more and more out about his legs that he would never walk. Even though, I knew that there would never be anything in this world that could or would continue to hold my baby back, but when a dr. tells you that your son is going to be developmentally delayed or may never walk, what is a parent supposed to think??? Well we have proved you wrong Dr. Pannella, you dumb dermatologist who needs to keep your mouth shut!!! My baby can do it all, and will continue to do it all!!!
Along with his walking/running, I am amazed at how much Garrett talks. I know that Marshall has very good language for a 2 year old....sometimes too well but Garrett amazes me with something new that he is saying everyday! So far his words are: uh-oh, mama, dada, hi, bye, all done, drink, ba-ba, ball, book, and down. Of course some of the things are hard to understand but obviously I am with him all the time and have kinda picked up on his language. I speak alot of toddler and preschool language these days. My favorite thing about Garrett talking is when we are in the store and he will be in the cart and he will say, "hi" as someone is walking by, as he waves at them. When the people turn around they seriously think that it is Marshall talking to them, until they see Garrett waving at them. TOO FUNNY!!!!
It seems like just yesterday Dr. Lehnert was pulling him out of me and I heard him cry for the 1st time, and now he is 13 months old. Where does the time go? He's even eating cereal with milk with a spoon....a little messy at times, but still!!!!
I don't know what else to say about Garrett, I love his beautiful blond hair and blue eyes, his sweet giggle when you tickle him, and he is definately ticklish everywhere. I love his sweet words when he says, "uh-oh mama!" No matter what he will always be my sweet baby boy!

Me, talking nonsense
Well, it's 11:30 at night and for some reason I can never go to sleep before midnight...that's awesome, isn't it? I keep telling myself that we have to get the kids back on a good schedule because Madelyn goes back to school in about 2 weeks....that's a BOO and a YAY!!! A "Boo" because well I'm going to be really blunt....I like to sleep in and I hate getting up in the morning and especially getting kids ready to go someplace by 8:00 a.m. It's a "yay" because, well I'm going to be blunt again, I need her to go back to school. I love the girl, but me and her and the boys have had a little TOO much time together this summer!!! And yes, she does need some space and is ready to start a new beginning in her new school. So me working on getting the kids back on a good schedule isn't working out to well. It really isn't only for the kids it's for me too.
I too will actually have to get my self out of bed and actually go to school 2 days a week. That's a "hooray" and a "blah" as well!!! Of course this all depends on if I can find someplace for the boys to go, and right now that misson is a failure!!!! Maybe, I am just too picky about where I am sending my boys, but let me tell you....after spending so many years working in childcare....I know what goes on in there and I know how psycho some of those other kids can be and how unprofessional some of those idiots working there can be. Of course, my boys will probably fall into the psycho child category!!!! Plus, every where is so flipping expensive!!! Whatever happened to normal babysitters, who charged very little to watch 2 kids???? How in the world do people work and afford to put their kids in daycare???? I just don't get it!!!! I am going to make a child care center, that is educational, affordable, and is very high quality! Wouldn't that make so many families life a little easier?
Sorry that was my venting about childcare for a small moment!
Here's another thing I would like to vent about: My car!!!
I tell you what, I am about ready to drive that thing off a cliff. I have such luck!!! Who else would have their car AC go out on them in the middle of July when it is 95 degrees outside....and I have a baby with me!!! Yes, that's right, ME!!! I just want the thing fixed, and I want it to cost me $1.00!!!! UGHHH...it makes me soooo mad!!! And yes, I HATE driving Justin's car! It is SO loud and beastly....I want my grocery getter fixed!
Okay, next thing!!! I love my kids, more than they will probably ever know. I especially love my Marshall Dean! However, I do not love his sleeping habits!!! From the time he was in the hospital, that kid wouldn't sleep. When we brought him home he didn't sleep for 11 months, and he still wakes up every night, walks through the house and climbs into our bed, gets on his daddy's pillow, covers up with "his" softy, and sleeps. Maybe once a month the kid will sleep all night in his own room. What is wrong with this kid???? I know he's a momma's boy, but why won't the kid just sleep in his bed??? UGHHH....MORE FRUSTRATION!!! In fact, guess who is already in bed with me, right now, as I am typing....MARSHALL DEAN!!! Actually I think tonight he had a bad dream because he was screaming bloody murder in his bed, so that's understandable and excusable for mommy terms....but every other night, I need some space!!! Oh well, he won't be 2 forever and one day he won't want to have anything to do with me, right? So what's the saying, enjoy it while you can??? And that's what I shall do!
Well I suppose that is enough rambling for tonight. I am finally tired and of course it is bed time because it is 12:03!!!

Birds
Well, I guess we now have an obsession with bringing birds to our house! Madelyn has been talking about wanting a bird house for many months and so today I finally gave in!
I took her and Marshall to Hobby Lobby to find a birdhouse. All the birdhouses that she wanted were $25.00 and I think they are more decorative birdhouses and aren't really meant for the purpose of housing a bird. SO, we ventured over to the plain wood section and found a birdhouse that she could paint and do whatever she wanted to with it. With those we found birdfeeders. So of course Marshall had to have the birdfeeder. We can't very well have a birdhouse and not have someplace for the birds to eat!!!! Oh the things my daughter thinks of!
So we made our purchase along with some things of paint and went home and worked on our project! Of course we didn't get them finished tonight but we will continue our work tomorrow. But here are a few pictures of our work so far!!!

Catching Up
Okay, technically I should be cleaning my kitchen because honestly it looks like someone went to the store and brought home my groceries and dumped them all over my floor, my table, my counters, and every where else. And then it looks like my dishwasher also has exploded because well I don't think any of my dishes are were they are supposed to be, BUT sometimes those things can wait because I'm not in the mood to tackle that mess.
So I guess I should probably give an update of our St. Louis trip because I think that is where I left off. Here is the quick version: Thursday, we left the house at 6:30 am with all 3 kids, drove 4 hours to St. Louis and waited in the waiting room for an hour to see the urologist. After an hour we were called back and waited another 30 minutes before the actual dr. came in. When the dr. came in he said, "Why are you here?" So I had to explain why we were there. He said there really wasn't anything he can do and pretty much said there was no point in us being there. So that was fun!!! By this point my kids are going CRAZY because they are tired and hungry and they just spent 4 hours in a car and then an hour and a half sitting in a dr.'s office. GREAT COMBINATION!!! Our next adventure: eating at the hospital cafeteria!!! So we go down to eat and Marshall is in a zone! He doesn't want to be carried, he wants to wander around and not be bothered, he's hungry, tired, and just wants to look at the giant hot air balloon that is in the middle of the cafeteria!!! So I "try" to talk to him and see what he wants to eat! So he decides to lay down in the middle of the cafeteria screaming and kicking and crying. That had to be the best day of our vacation!!!! We eventually saw the orthopedic and that was basically a waste of our time too. We know more about our options for the future but she stated very clearly that we won't know the severity of his legs for quite some time. So we wait, she will continue to check on him yearly but nothing is done right now. Wow that was a great day of dr. visits!!!
We finally got to the hotel, which by that point the boys were passed out and it was only a 15 minute drive! We got checked in, fed them, relaxed a little (me and Justin had some beer and margarita's...definately needed after that day), then we went off to the pool!!! After the pool, the boys (all 3) passed out and me and Madelyn went to sleep shortly after....it was the best nights sleep I've had in a long time!!!!
The zoo trip: Well we went to the St. Louis zoo and that was a fun adventure as well!!! Overall, for having 2 kids under the age of 3, being extremely tired, and 4 hours away from home our boys did great!!! We saw so many things that day but here at the highlights from everyone: For me it was of course, being with my kids! This was the 1st trip that we have taken in a long time where we got to just enjoy our kids and I am very blessed to have such great kids and a wonderful husband! Marshall's highlight was the TRAIN!!! That kid loves trains and he was so excited when we got to ride it. He even woke up on the way home crying because he needed to get back on the train! TOO CUTE!!! Madelyn's highlight: Who Knows?!?!? Petting the bunnies, the carousel, the train, the french fries (she said they were the best EVER!) Garrett loved the stroller, the train, and all of the animals because they all said, "meow"!!! I love my kids!!!
So that was our big adventure crammed into 2 days! The boys passed out on the way home and we all are still recovering. On the way home I thought about our trip and realized that next year I will have a 2 year old, a 3 1/2 year old and a 10 year old, and it made me kinda sad to think about it. My kids are growing up way to fast and it's trips like these and those to come that I want to remember. That is a huge reason why I am blogging. So my kids can come back and read about all of our "adventures" and also for me to remember and watch my kids grow up through my stories!!!

So I guess I should probably give an update of our St. Louis trip because I think that is where I left off. Here is the quick version: Thursday, we left the house at 6:30 am with all 3 kids, drove 4 hours to St. Louis and waited in the waiting room for an hour to see the urologist. After an hour we were called back and waited another 30 minutes before the actual dr. came in. When the dr. came in he said, "Why are you here?" So I had to explain why we were there. He said there really wasn't anything he can do and pretty much said there was no point in us being there. So that was fun!!! By this point my kids are going CRAZY because they are tired and hungry and they just spent 4 hours in a car and then an hour and a half sitting in a dr.'s office. GREAT COMBINATION!!! Our next adventure: eating at the hospital cafeteria!!! So we go down to eat and Marshall is in a zone! He doesn't want to be carried, he wants to wander around and not be bothered, he's hungry, tired, and just wants to look at the giant hot air balloon that is in the middle of the cafeteria!!! So I "try" to talk to him and see what he wants to eat! So he decides to lay down in the middle of the cafeteria screaming and kicking and crying. That had to be the best day of our vacation!!!! We eventually saw the orthopedic and that was basically a waste of our time too. We know more about our options for the future but she stated very clearly that we won't know the severity of his legs for quite some time. So we wait, she will continue to check on him yearly but nothing is done right now. Wow that was a great day of dr. visits!!!
We finally got to the hotel, which by that point the boys were passed out and it was only a 15 minute drive! We got checked in, fed them, relaxed a little (me and Justin had some beer and margarita's...definately needed after that day), then we went off to the pool!!! After the pool, the boys (all 3) passed out and me and Madelyn went to sleep shortly after....it was the best nights sleep I've had in a long time!!!!
The zoo trip: Well we went to the St. Louis zoo and that was a fun adventure as well!!! Overall, for having 2 kids under the age of 3, being extremely tired, and 4 hours away from home our boys did great!!! We saw so many things that day but here at the highlights from everyone: For me it was of course, being with my kids! This was the 1st trip that we have taken in a long time where we got to just enjoy our kids and I am very blessed to have such great kids and a wonderful husband! Marshall's highlight was the TRAIN!!! That kid loves trains and he was so excited when we got to ride it. He even woke up on the way home crying because he needed to get back on the train! TOO CUTE!!! Madelyn's highlight: Who Knows?!?!? Petting the bunnies, the carousel, the train, the french fries (she said they were the best EVER!) Garrett loved the stroller, the train, and all of the animals because they all said, "meow"!!! I love my kids!!!
So that was our big adventure crammed into 2 days! The boys passed out on the way home and we all are still recovering. On the way home I thought about our trip and realized that next year I will have a 2 year old, a 3 1/2 year old and a 10 year old, and it made me kinda sad to think about it. My kids are growing up way to fast and it's trips like these and those to come that I want to remember. That is a huge reason why I am blogging. So my kids can come back and read about all of our "adventures" and also for me to remember and watch my kids grow up through my stories!!!

The Beginning
I guess I should probably start from the beginning. Obviously I am Katie and this is my new blog or lets call it my new adventure. I have been reading some blogs lately and I thought this would be a great idea for me. Not only can I write about my kids and our life,as well as updates on Garrett, this will be a great way for everyone to learn more about us as a family, keep up to date with us, and experience our life through my eyes!!! What more could anyone ask for?!?! Of course I will not guarantee anyone that this thing will be updated everyday, or even every other day but I will do my best.
So let me begin with the first thing. It is 1:57 am and of course I am not sleeping because, well I have been having a hard time sleeping. So of course I am sitting here working on this and then all of a sudden I hear this big "THUD" from one of the kids rooms. Which can mean 1 of 2 things: 1. Garrett's crib fell apart and he's laying on the floor, but I didn't hear him crying...so that rules that out. or #2. which would be Madelyn is up or she fell out of bed. The 3rd would have been Marshall falling out of bed but he has already gotten up for his night walk into our room and taken a place in mine and Justin's bed, which means it is my night to be on the couch, lucky me. Anyways, back to the story. SO I go investigate where the "THUD" came from. It was Madelyn. She was sitting on the floor by her window! Hmmm...my 1st thought is, "Oh geez, she was sneaking out of her window." Okay, not really...that will be my thought in about 3 years. So I ask her what she is doing. And she says, "well I don't know how to explain it to you." I start thinking, maybe she is asleep and is talking to me...but that definately is not the case. So I ask her why she is up, has she been watching TV, playing her DS?!?!? Why is she on the floor? And she says, "I'm just really hot and I am trying to sleep someplace where I won't be hot, and I tripped over my cord." So I get her back into bed, go get the fan, and turn down the air. Hopefully now she will go to sleep.
So that is I guess the beginning to my interesting, chaotic, wonderful life that I have and wouldn't change for anything!!!! And a sneak peak into what my blog story will be all about!!!
